A Northern Light - Prediction Paper
In the book, A Northern Light, a girl named Mathilda - or "Mattie" - has her heart set on going to New York and becoming a famous author. She looks up to women like Jane Austin and Emily Dickinson, and although she wanted to marry and lead a happy life with a husband and children, writing isn't something she wants to give up.
In this book, we believe Mattie will open the letters the strange woman named Grace gave to her, and will figure out whether the death was an accident or not. We think the letters will lead her to New York, and in the end, Mattie will write about the experience and the twisted love story of Grace Brown and Carl Graham.
Something that MAY happen would be Mattie leaving a letter of her own, addressed to her sisters and father, explaining why she is leaving and how she can't stay. The letter will be on parchment paper, written with a shitty fountain pen, and wrapped in twine, sealed with a piece of sugar gum.
Also, something that MAY happen is Mattie opens the letters, and after hearing stories about Carl Graham and/or Grace Brown, she will put the pieces together and reveal a large part of why Grace Brown died, and where Carl Graham disappeared to.
PLOT TWIST (extra credit):
Mattie will stumble across Carl Graham (dead or alive)
If he's alive, he'll threaten to kill her because of the letters she never burned
If he's dead, there is a note on his body, explaining the whole scenario.
