Making Predictions

Making Predictions

So far you know a little bit about your book.  You heard a description of it, looked at the cover and title, maybe read some of the blurbs.  You have begun reading it.  Your challenge now is to try and imagine what will happen in this book.

The goal here is not to be correct--you almost certainly will not.  Your job instead is to step into the author's shoes and do the same work of imagining and exploring that he or she has done already.

Your goal is to imagine a possible story, a narrative that might unfold from what you know about the book.  Discuss as a group possible answers to this question, drawing on what you each know about the book, about the genre, and about the world.

Then, together as a group, write one extended summary of what you imagine the story of this book might be.  Be sure to use details you have from the book, as well add details of your own.  Happy writing!
